UK Banks’ Tokenisation Milestone Reinforces Peymo’s Vision for Everyday Digital Money

As major lenders demonstrate practical uses for tokenised deposits, Peymo highlights its stablecoin-first approach to connecting digital assets with familiar payment networks.

LONDON, 20 October 2026 — Peymo believes the latest tokenised-deposit milestone involving major UK banks provides an encouraging signal for its strategic direction: making digital money useful in everyday financial life.

As reported by Euronews on 24 September (article here), banks participating in the UK Finance-led Great British Tokenised Deposit initiative completed interbank transactions involving tokenised deposits. The pilots demonstrated how digital representations of bank money can support practical payments, including remortgage completions and a marketplace transaction.

For Peymo, the significance is the growing institutional focus on connecting digital money with real economic activity.

Built around stablecoins from the outset

Peymo’s architecture follows a simple principle: users can hold value in stablecoins and access traditional money when needed.

Its ecosystem connects a non-custodial wallet with named virtual accounts, crypto-funded Visa cards and QR merchant payments. Eligible users can receive local transfers through EUR SEPA, GBP Faster Payments and USD ACH accounts, with services subject to jurisdiction, programme and eligibility.

Rather than treating digital assets as a separate investment product, Peymo brings them into familiar activities: receiving payments, making purchases and transferring money.

“Major banks putting tokenised money into practical use is an encouraging signal for the direction we have chosen,” said Tomas Bartos, CEO of Peymo. “Our conviction has been that digital money becomes useful when people can connect it easily with the financial services they already use. Peymo has been built around that connection from the outset.”

Different instruments, a shared focus on usability

Tokenised bank deposits and stablecoins have different legal structures, protections and risk profiles. Peymo does not participate in the UK banking pilot, and the initiative does not constitute an endorsement of the company.

Nevertheless, Peymo sees the development as evidence of a broader shift: established financial institutions are investing in ways to make digital money work within everyday commerce.

From product delivery to commercial adoption

Peymo’s current focus is expanding adoption of its live platform through merchant integrations, APIs and distribution partnerships.

The company remains pre-revenue, with commercial discussions forming a pipeline rather than completed deployments. Its next priority is converting product availability and partner interest into active usage and transaction revenue.

For existing shareholders and prospective investors, the banking milestone adds external context to Peymo’s strategy. The company’s opportunity is to translate that direction into a convenient service people and businesses choose to use.
